Our goal is to promote growth of the whole child including emotional and physical development coupled with the pursuit of academic excellence. Our teaching techniques foster an organic growth in the learning process of exploration, discovery, and proficiency. Howard offers an individualized learning environment allowing teachers to work closely with each child to develop the learning tools necessary for success in life.
Performing Arts
Music classes are offered to all students. Our music curriculum focuses on theory, sight singing and introduction to voice, piano, guitar, and several other orchestral instruments. Our musical and theatrical performances foster poise, composure and confidence.
Art
Children explore techniques in composition and color in a variety of media platforms. Our relationship with The Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center has given our students the opportunity to interact and learn within the community from various artists.
STEM
Beginning in Kindergarten, students become familiar with a variety of age appropriate software and technology.
Foreign Language
Students have the benefit of exposure to several romance languages during their time at Howard, including instruction in a Spanish language class.
Physcial Education
Physical activity encourages understanding the value of fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship. Regardless of the physical abilities of the student, success is achieved through the promotion of health and wellness.
Locally Sourced Lunch Program
We focus on the importance of nourishing the whole body and are pleased to offer our students a healthy meal. We are proud that the ingredients for our lunches are sourced locally whenever possible and introduce the students to what is seasonal and available in their own community.
